Frequently asked questions
What counts as a document?
Every finished PDF you generate counts as one document (one credit). Designing and previewing templates in the editor is free; you are only charged when you generate a final document.
Do unused credits roll over?
On monthly plans, credits reset at the start of each billing month and do not roll over. On yearly plans, your full year of credits is one pool with no monthly cap, so use them whenever you need across the 12 months.
What happens if I hit my limit?
Once you reach your credit limit, generation pauses for the rest of the billing period. You can upgrade at any time to raise your limit immediately, or wait for your credits to reset.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes. Upgrades take effect immediately and raise your limit right away. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle, so you keep your current plan and credits until then.
What is the difference between monthly and yearly?
Yearly billing works out to two months free versus paying monthly, and your credits stay valid for the whole year instead of resetting each month.
Is there a free plan?
Yes. The Free plan includes 10 documents per month with no card required, enough to build a real document and see how ShipPDF fits your workflow.
Can I use my own AI assistant?
Every plan can connect an AI assistant (Claude, ChatGPT or your own) to build templates and generate documents; you bring your own AI. A ShipPDF-hosted in-app AI assistant is coming to Pro and above.
How do payments work, and can I cancel?
Checkout and payment details are securely handled by Stripe, and you can update your payment method or cancel anytime from the billing portal.
